Gary William Van Hoesen
Gary William Van Hoesen of Riverhead, formerly of Quogue and Westhampton Beach, died at his home on March 9 after a long battle with cancer. He was 64.
Born at Southampton Hospital on February 17, 1949, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Buena Vista College in Iowa. He served as a specialist in the U.S. Army for two years, from 1970 to 1972. He worked as a bartender at Cliff’s Rendezvous, the Elks Lodge and the American Legion.
Fond of visiting with friends, he was a member of the Elks Club, the American Legion and the Association of Good Fellows.
Mr. Van Hoesen was predeceased by his parents, Irene Van Hoesen-Henry and Griffith Van Hoesen and a twin brother, Griffith Van Hoesen. He is survived by his wife, Sheri McCormick Van Hoesen of Riverhead; two daughters, Christy Salerno of East Quogue and Corinne Arrasate of Westhampton Beach; a sons, Scott Van Hoesen of Florida; two sisters, Holly McCarthy of Manhasset and Jean Van Hoesen of Quogue; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead on March 13.
