Bridgehampton native Genevieve Zuyus died on October 13 at Stony Brook University Medical Center from cardiac complications. She was 78.
Born April 30, 1930, she was the daughter of Anne and John Goleski. She was a member of Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton and the Sacred Hearts Society Pastoral Council. She loved arranging flowers on the altar.
Family recalled this week that she reached out to friends and relatives whenever help was needed. A niece, Veronica Webb, noted that “although Aunt Geney was childless, she cared for and loved deeply her many nieces and nephews, and was very much loved in return. She was an exceptional person in life with a gift of insight to everyone she encountered; she had numerous friends, was non-judgmental, most generous and kind.”
Mrs. Zuyus is survived by a brother, John Goleski of Southampton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, Alexander Zuyus, and siblings Stanley Goleski, Charles Goleski, Josephine Goleski and Mary Zelenski all predeceased her.
Funeral services were on October 18 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in Southampton, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
