George J. Schoeppler Of East Quogue Dies December 9

George J. Schoeppler of Wallingford, Vermont, and East Quogue died on December 9, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 53.

Born June 19, 1964, in Huntington, to George and Janet Schoeppler, he loved to help others and was dedicated to his career as a Westhampton Beach Police officer and then as an EMT in Rutland, Vermont. Survivors said he loved and lived life to the fullest, was always extremely active and practiced positivity in everything he did, adding that he possessed a strong love for all God’s creatures, great and small.

He continued to have an optimistic outlook, even after a devastating diagnosis, and left behind an inspirational legacy for all who knew him.

Mr. Schoeppler was survived by his wife of 25 years, Delma Schoeppler. In addition to his mother, Janet, he is survived by his father-in-law, Thomas J. Tully and wife Flo Donahue; his brothers, Michael and Paul, and their wives Carrie and Alina Schoeppler; sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia, MaryBeth and Thomas Tully; and nieces and nephews, Ella, Nick and Ashley Schoeppler, Sydney and Audrey Alverson, Denis and Melissa Carpenter, Bryan and Kerrie Carpenter, Anthony and Tara Vasquez and Destiny Guichard; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his best friends, his “brothers from other mothers,” Trevor Gonce, Glenn Bullock and Jason McMunn and their wives. He was predeceased by his father, George; his grandmother, Hattie; and mother-in-law, Delma Tully. He also leaves his beloved dogs, Jack and Holly.

Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, the East End Hospice Kanas Center in Quiogue, or any charity of choice.

A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, December 16 at the Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays.

Voters Approve Library Budget

Voters approved the Rogers Memorial Library’s budget on Friday and three trustees were elected to the board. Of the 246 votes cast, 205 voted in favor of the budget (173 in the Southampton School District and 32 in the Tuckahoe School District).
