George John Endres of Remsenburg died at the Westhampton Care Center of Parkinson’s disease on Friday, August 9. He was 72.
Mr. Endres was born on January 1, 1941, in Peoria, Illinois, to Mary (Bauman) and John Endres. He graduated from Peoria High School in 1959 and then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 until 1969. He joined the Air National Guard, stationed in Westhampton Beach, in 1972 and retired as a logistics management officer in 1998.
He was a cherished friend to all his neighbors. He always helped them with difficult tasks, survivors said.
Mr. Endres is survived by his wife of 48 years, Renate; three children, James and wife Ilona of East Quogue, Manuela Endres Martin of Las Vegas, and Lore Anne Endres Hudson of North Carolina; two brothers, Paul and wife Maureen of Ohio, and Leo of California; and two sisters, Rose Endres of San Francisco and Louise Endres of Illinois. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Zickar.
Visitation was held on August 13 at Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
