Gerard Wawryk, Owner Of Page At 63 Restaurant, Dies April 12

Gerard Donald Wawryk, owner of Page at 63 restaurant in Sag Harbor, died of a stroke on April 12 at Stony Brook University Hospital. He was 68.

He was born on July 3, 1946, in Brooklyn, to Stanley and Elizabeth Wawryk, and the family moved to Sag Harbor when he was a child. He attended Mercy High School and Southampton College, studying economics before a Wall Street career took him to Hong Kong, South Africa, and London. He returned to Sag Harbor, opening a restaurant in the Page at 63 space, first as Spinnakers and then Blue Sky.

Mr. Wawryk served on the Sag Harbor School Board for six years, first being elected in 1995. Three of those six years he served as the board’s president. During that time he also helped found Youth Advocacy and Resource Development, which provides programming for youth in Sag Harbor.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Page Wawryk; children, Lucie Wawryk of Louisiana, Andrew of Sag Harbor and Kimberly Tone of New Jersey; a bother, James Wawryk of Arizona; a sister, Betty Wawryk of Virginia; and two grandchildren, Jack and Anna Tone. He was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Wawryk.

Visitation was at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor on April 16. A funeral Mass was held April 17 at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor, followed by a reception at Mr. Wawryk’s restaurant.
