Give Him A Call

Shame on President Trump and shame on the Republican senators and congressman who precipitated the insurrection and the violent storming of the Capitol on January 6.

Much has been written about the shameful events that day, so I will not discuss them in any detail in this letter. Instead, I will focus on our shameful congressman, Lee Zeldin.

Mr. Zeldin, a Trump sycophant of the first degree, voted to object to the certification of the Electoral College votes for President-elect Joe Biden. He voted after the violent riot. Some Republicans who were planning to object changed their minds and did not vote to object after the riot … but Zeldin plowed ahead with his steadfast objection vote, even after the riot killing of a police officer.

I emailed Mr. Zeldin the other day and I said that I was waiting for him to condemn the inflamed rhetoric of Trump (he had promised a “wild” protest, saying, we are going to have to fight, we will never concede …) and Rudy Giuliani (who called for “trial by combat”) at the “rally” preceding the riot. I told Zeldin to resign if he didn’t publicly condemn Trump and Giuliani.

I have not heard back from Mr. Zeldin as of yet.

On Sunday, January 10, I read that Lee Zeldin was complaining about Twitter shutting down Donald Trump’s Twitter account. Twitter has stated that they shut him down to prevent him from inciting any more violence. Apparently, Zeldin is more concerned about his master’s vile megaphone than the safety of the American people. Already there is lots of chatter on social media of more planned violence between now and inauguration day.

I urge each and every one of you to contact Lee Zeldin and ask for his resignation.
