Former Sag Harbor resident Gladys R. Jacobs died on June 12 at Salisbury Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Salisbury, Maryland, where she had been residing for the past three years. She was 93.

Born April 25, 1916, in Sag Harbor to Annabelle Thompson and Louis Frayher, she was a graduate of Pierson High School. A homemaker, she was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for more than 50 years and a member of Sag Harbor United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Robert Jacobs and his wife Deborah of Sag Harbor; two daughters, Carol and her husband John Schroeder of Sag Harbor and Lorraine and her husband James Ford of Maryland; a brother, Harold Frayher of Florida; three grandsons, John Schroeder, Nathaniel Jacobs and Evan Ford; five granddaughters, Donna Fisher, Suzanne Milazzo, Stacy Soydam, Elsie Jacobs and Allison Ford; nine great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, David “Les” Jacobs, who died in 2003, she was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Frayher, and a sister, Frances Pelatzky.

Funeral services were held on June 15 at the Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor, with the Reverend Tom McCloud of Sag Harbor United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed at Oakland Cemetery, also in Sag Harbor.
