Glena Elizabeth Jagger
Glena Elizabeth Jagger of Southampton died at her home on May 28. She was 90.
Miss Jagger was born in Southampton to Hubert and Alice Jagger in 1922 and graduated from Southampton High School in 1939 as valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Alfred University in 1942, having majored in chemistry.
After college, she worked for Armstrong Cork Company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. After returning to Southampton, she worked at the Western Union laboratory in Water Mill. She then worked for the Long Island Lighting Company for 29 years, first in residential lighting and later in consumer education. She retired in May 1981.
Miss Jagger enjoyed gardening and was a volunteer for the Suffolk County Cooperative Extension Service as a master gardener. She also mended books for the Rogers Memorial Library.
Miss Jagger played the flute in the Sag Harbor Community Band and the “Monday Night Band” in Riverhead. She was a lifelong member of the Southampton Methodist Church and also one of the founding members of the Suffolk County Council of Churches.
Miss Jagger was pre-deceased by her parents, as well as a half-sister, Elizabeth Jagger of Southampton.
Interment of ashes took place on Wednesday, June 6, at the Southampton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Church of Southampton, 160 Main Street, Southampton, NY 11968.
