Billy Glover and Madeline Graham both grew up in Remsenburg, attended Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School and Westhampton Beach Junior and Senior High schools. They were a few grades apart in school. Their parents became lifelong friends when their younger sisters attended nursery school together, yet Billy and Madeline only knew of each other through their families.
Twenty years after graduating high school, their paths would cross, beginning a love story to call their own.
Through social media, Mr. Glover asked Ms. Graham to attend the Eastport Fire Department’s annual dinner, and the rest is history.
The couple dated steadily, became engaged, and planned to have a big Christmas season wedding celebration at Georgio’s in Baiting Hollow. Their family and friends were so excited to attend and share in their joy. COVID-19 and its restrictions would change their original plans, but not their love for each other or enthusiasm for getting married.
The magical Christmas wedding they had dreamed of took place with immediate family at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Westhampton Beach on December 19, 2020, when Madeline Howe Graham, daughter of the late Douglas R. Graham of Remsenburg and Frances Graham, currently of Eastport, married William P. Glover, son of William and Cathy Glover of Remsenburg. The ceremony was officiated by Father Gerardo Romo Garcia.
Ms. Graham was escorted down the aisle by her cousin James Lansing of Mount Vernon. The best man was the groom’s brother, Justin Glover of Remsenburg. Groomsman Christopher Towle, brother-in-law of the bride, escorted the bride’s mother down the aisle. Groomsmen Matthew Crennan of East Moriches and Michael Kogler of North Carolina were unable to attend in person. The bridal party also included Matron of Honor Emily Towle, sister of the bride, Lauren Crennan, sister of the groom, Alexandra Glover, sister-in-law of the groom, and Tiffany Geoghan, lifelong high school friend of the bride. The flower girls were Charlotte Crennan and Janey Glover, both goddaughters of the groom, wearing white dresses with Nova Scotian tartan sashes. The young ring bearers, wearing Nova Scotian tartan bow ties, were Nicholas Towle, Felix Glover and Colin Crennan, all nephews of the bride and groom. Selected readings were given by family members Nancy Glover, Cyndee Soloman, Frances Graham and Cathy Glover.
One of the highlights of the day was time spent following the ceremony at the Eastport Fire Department. Bridesmaid Lauren Glover’s father-in-law and ex-Chief Randy Crennan polished up the department’s antique fire truck, known as the “Day Elder,” for the newlywed’s special photo shoot. Many department members and others were also there to congratulate the new Mr. and Mrs. Glover.
Afterward, the wedding party and family enjoyed a sit-down dinner at Trumpets on the Bay in Eastport. Toasts were made by the best man and matron of honor and 5-year-old Janey Glover serenaded the couple with a special song to top off the night.
The newlyweds enjoyed a short honeymoon at The Fern Lodge located in the Adirondack Mountains. They now reside in Eastport.
