Gustave Phillip Wagner Of East Quogue Dies December 26

Gustave Phillip Wagner of East Quogue died December 26 in Florida at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, where he had been living for the last nine years. He was 89.

Born in Queens, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his military service, he worked for Grumman, the Town of Southampton, and at Publix in Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances; daughter, Diane Yates and husband Larry Yates of Indiana; son, Gus R. Wagner of East Quogue; daughter-in-law, Gayle Wagner of Riverhead; five grandchildren, Wendy Jankun of Florida, Chris Yates of Indiana, Bret Hand of Virginia and serving in the U.S. Navy, and Elizabeth Wagner and Robert Wagner, both of Riverhead; and five great-grandchildren, Sarah Jankun, Katie Jankun, Ella Yates, Justin Hand and Katlyn Hand. He was predeceased by two children, Margaret Hand and Phillip Wagner.

A memorial service will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery in East Quogue on Saturday, May 14, at 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the East Quogue Fire Department, Box 271, East Quogue, NY 11942.
