Guy Joseph LeClerc died at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital on April 21, 2018. He was 86.
Mr. LeClerc was born on August 17, 1931, to Dorilas and Bertha (Lessard) LeClerc in Westbrook, Maine. He was the third of 14 children.
He served two years in the U.S. Air National Guard before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. During his four years as a medical corpsman, he served tours of duty in Korea and Texas. It was in Texas that he met Margaret “Tiny” Moylan, and they were married on November 19, 1955. Three months later, after being honorably discharged from the Air Force they moved back to Tiny’s hometown of Sag Harbor and Mr. LeClerc joined the Plumbers Local Union 200 and worked as an industrial plumber pipe fitter for more than 30 years. In 1961, he moved his family to the house he built at 391 North Main Street in Southampton, his home for 57 years.
Mr. LeClerc was a devoted husband and father, avid reader, a talented carpenter and craftsman and loved to spend time in his garden, survivors said.
He was predeceased by his wife, Tiny; his oldest son, Keith; his parents; his brothers, Roland, Norman, and Gerard; and baby sister, Ida.
He is survived by his daughters, Andrea McKeefrey and husband Robert, Maria Johns and husband Robert; sons, Brian LeClerc and Michael LeClerc and wife Karen; five grandchildren, Jason Johns, Ryan McKeefrey, Cara McKeefrey Kul, Sean McKeefrey and Josh LeClerc; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Anita Metevier, Grace Smith, Jane Torza (Hugo), Pauline Campochiaro, Alfred LeClerc (Audrey), Phillip LeClerc (Mary), Roger LeClerc, Angela Francouer (Dick), David LeClerc; and many nieces and nephews, including Kerrie, Robert and Chris O’Kunewicz. He leaves behind his cat and faithful companion, Dougie.
A funeral Mass will take place Friday, April 27, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton, followed by burial at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Connell-Rothwell Funeral Home in Southampton.
