The monthly meeting of the Hampton Bays Civic Association has been rescheduled to the Wednesday after Memorial Day, May 29. It will take place as usual at the Hampton Bays Senior Center, 25 Ponquogue Avenue. Doors open at 6:30 for refreshments and the meeting will start at 7 p.m.
The agenda includes news from Town Hall about the public exemption hearing regarding the battery energy storage system moratorium and the donation and transfer of the Bel-Aire Cove property to the Community Preservation Fund.
The guest speakers will be Jacqueline Fenlon, director of the Community Preservation Fund, and her colleague, Daniel McCormick. In addition to providing an update on the future of the Bel-Aire Cove property, the speakers will discuss other CPF purchases in Hampton Bays and the reasons for those purchases. Information will also be provided about the recent allocation of payments in lieu of taxes and how they work to fund the schools, library and other services. There will be time allotted for a question-and-answer session at the end.
After the speakers, a group of residents of the Newtown Road community will present the historical ownership of neighboring Westwood property and the possible impact of proposed development.
