Here’s the latest news from the “glad grad” department. LuLu Romano has graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts.
Karl Knotoff graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and a minor in business administration. He and a few other veterans were also recognized with a “continuing education” diploma. Ooh rah!
And Perry Friscia graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in finance and a minor in accounting from the University of Tampa.
While on the Florida campus, Perry was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society and Beta Alpha Psi accounting, finance and information systems honor society. He also volunteered with Tampa Bay Harvest and participated in the American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb and Relay for Life. His very proud parents are Carol and Michael Friscia of Hampton Bays.
Lots of faculty and staff retiring this month from their posts in the Hampton Bays School District: All the best to James Waring, James Arnone, Nancy Slowey, Anne Waring, Laura Bourgal, Frank Mancuso, Denise DeRosa, Barbara Ferucci, Marilyn Wilson and Helen Schottenhamel. David Kornrumpf has a show titled “Imaginary Landscapes” on display this month at the Hampton Bays Public Library, 52 Ponquogue Avenue. David’s artwork is inspired by geology, “Lord of the Rings,” and other fantasy books. His paintings and drawings depict different forms, structures and locations existing in this world.

The Hampton Bays Beautification Association’s 31st annual Garden Party and Chinese Auction is set for this Saturday, June 4, from noon until 3:30 p.m., at Oakland’s Restaurant, 369 Dune Road. The donation is $45 per person and that includes passed appetizers and a buffet lunch, wine, beer, Bloody Mary, mimosa, soft drinks, coffee and dessert. New this year: win a prize for the best decorated garden hat!
Tickets are on sale at Erica’s, 72 Ponquogue Avenue; Fandango boutique, 48 West Montauk Highway; or at the Hampton Bays Public Library, 52 Ponquogue Avenue. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door for $50.
East End Hospice is holding its North Fork Pig Roast on Saturday, June 4, from 4 until 7 p.m., over at Pindar Vineyards, located at 37645 Route 25 in Peconic. Adult admission is $30; kids 14 and younger pay $10. Children under age 2 get in free.

And last, but certainly not least, the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center is hosting an Evening with Night Owls on Saturday, June 4, at 7 to 10 p.m., at 230 Elm, located at—yup, you guessed it—230 Elm Street in Southampton. Tickets are $50 per person and include a buffet dinner, silent and Chinese auctions, a 50/50 raffle, dancing and a cash bar. Every girl deserves to go to the prom in a dress that makes her feel beautiful. Hampton Bays Public Library is sponsoring a prom dress drive for girls attending their junior or senior prom. This drive is free for any girl, in any town, who needs a dress.
Come to the library and choose from an assortment of dresses and accessories that were donated by our community. Browse the racks and take one home.
