A Hampton Bays man was arrested by New York State Police for exchanging sexually explicit and inappropriate photos and messages with a minor in Georgia, state troopers say.
Oswin M. Guillen Padilla, 41, was interviewed by police from the NYSP Computer Crime Unit on Thursday, May 22, at the request of Duluth, Georgia police, who had received a complaint from the victim’s mother reporting that she had discovered numerous photos and videos exchanged between the victim and Padilla.
When interviewed by state troopers, Padilla admitted to having used social media accounts to intentionally seek out explicit content from individuals he knew to be minors, according to police.
Padilla has been charged with four felony counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. He was to be arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court before being extradited to Georgia.
New York State Police said they urge parents and guardians to speak with their children about the importance of internet safety and to report any suspicious online activity to police.
