Hampton Bays Moment

As commander of Hand-Aldrich Post 924, I want to thank the community of Hampton Bays for their generosity in the November 8 Bucket Brigade.

On that Saturday, our members set up a Bucket Brigade in front of our Legion Hall to raise funds for new flags to be placed on the utility poles along Montauk Highway and Ponquogue Avenue next spring. Your readers may have noticed that some of the flags currently gracing the utility poles have fallen into disrepair.

We were able to raise enough to replace all the flags that are currently flying in Hampton Bays. This clearly indicates that our community is generous, supportive and patriotic. We couldn’t be happier.

We source our flags from our parent organization, the American Legion. They provide a full catalog of very reasonably priced, top-quality flags, all made in the United States of America. Flags can be a great gift for someone who has won a patriotic essay contest, a Scout who has reached Eagle or Gold status, or someone who has become a naturalized citizen. The web address for American Legion Flags is emblem.legion.org.

Our members had a wonderful time talking with our neighbors Saturday morning, despite the early morning rain. We shared a true Hampton Bays moment with so many of you.

George D. Hand III

Commander
