This past spring, the Hampton Bays boys track team had an exceptional showing, led by its three state qualifiers.

Of those three, Quinn Smith returned home with hardware from the New York State Track and Field Championships, a pair of silver medals for finishing second in the discus in both the state and federation competitions, the latter of which is where public and private schools compete. Smith, who was also the overall Suffolk County champion in the shot put and placed fourth in the state in that event, was joined by teammates Darwin Fernandez and Thomas O’Connell at states. Fernandez was the Small School county champion in the 400-meter run and O’Connell was the Small School county champion in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles.

Tajay Dallas (100-meter dash), Jack Gilbert (long jump), Josh Pasca (400-meter hurdles) and Milan Moraga (triple jump) were each All-League as well.

Rachel Reycroft was the lone representative at the state qualifier for Hampton Bays girls track. She earned All-League honors in the 200-meter dash. Sarah Fassino (long jump) and Maryrose O’Connell (3,000-meter race) were also All-League.

The Hampton Bays softball team reached the Suffolk County Class B playoffs after going 7-7 in League VI. The Lady Baymen fell to Babylon, then to Mattituck, in the double-elimination playoffs. Tara Brochu was Sixth Team Class B All-State, All-County and All-Division while Lily Candelaria was All-Division.

The Hampton Bays baseball team went 6-14 overall. Jordan Adelson and Jaden Ottati were All-League while Nick Terry was All-Academic.

Cassidy Moore was one of the top scorers in all of Suffolk County during the girls lacrosse season. She ended up finishing 17th in the county in scoring within a loaded playing field and she earned All-County Honorable Mention honors for her efforts. Emma Naclerio was All-Division and Saorla Scully was named the team’s Unsung Hero. The Lady Baymen were named a New York State Scholar Athlete team.

Jeremy Carcamo, Justin Korczak and Patricio Pulla each reached the Suffolk County Division IV Individual Championships and earned All-League status while playing on the boys tennis team.

The Hurricanes boys and girls track teams had very successful spring seasons and have the honors to back it up. Both won League VI titles after going undefeated with 5-0 seasons.

Jack Meigel led the boys, earning a spot at the New York State Track and Field Championships by winning the county title in the high jump after clearing 6 feet 8 inches. He went on to place 11th in the state. The following athletes each earned All-League honors in their respective honors: Angelo Alamia, David Alvarado, Ermel Bautista, Curtis Brown, Dillon Canavan, Bryan Cruz-Sanchez, Gavin Ehlers, Justin Evans, Mike Evers, Christian Finke, Max Haynia, Sean Jordan, Juan Lasso, Kieran Ryan, Richard Tiska and Quinn Urban. Lasso and Tiska were also All-Academic.

Natalie Ehlers led the girls, becoming All-County and a two-time All-American in the race walk by finishing fifth at New Balance Outdoor Nationals in June. Isabella Beck, Jessica Dunn, Valerie Finke, Grace Hayes, Rose Hayes, Sydnie Mason, Maeve Murphy, Mai Nguyen-Jeanneret, Oceane Ode, Leila Reaves, Ashley Steedman, Trinity Valenzuela and Anabel Vellosa each earned All-League honors.

In some ways it was one of the best seasons in program history for the Westhampton Beach girls lacrosse team. It won the most games it ever has in one season (12-4 overall), but it still found that county final game to be elusive, falling to Bayport/Blue Point in the Class C semifinal. Isabelle Smith, who is currently in Canada representing U.S. Lacrosse on the U19 team at the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women’s U19 World Championship, was named an All-American for the second year in a row and All-County. Her teammate and cousin Hollie Schleicher was an All-American Honorable Mention and All-County as well. Lindsay Rongo was an All-County Honorable Mention. Jackie Amato, Maureen Duffy, Giana Murphy and Olivia Rongo were each named All-Division with Rongo also netting All-Rookie accolades. Casey Gallagher was All-Rookie Honorable Mention.

The Westhampton Beach boys lacrosse team was a win or two away from making the postseason, finishing just on the outside despite a very respectable win/loss record (9-5 Division II, 10-6 overall, 140.06 power points). Tyler Nolan and Andrew Arcuri were named All-County, Clarke Lewis was an All-County Honorable Mention and Rob Moore was All-Division.

The Westhampton Beach boys tennis team may not have won a league title, as it has become accustomed to doing so over the past few years, but it finished with a solid 8-2 League VII record. Josh Kaplan, Andre Insalaco and Trevor Hayes all finished as All-County players, Kasper Buchen and Jake Ongania were All-Divison and Santo Benenati, Dan Caputo and Pierce Rosen-Keith were each All-League. The Hurricanes were also named a New York State Scholar Athlete team.

The Westhampton Beach softball team finished one victory away from reaching the Class A postseason at 7-9 in League V. McKinley Skala and Brooke Walker were both named All-Division. The baseball team had its growing pains, winning two of its 20 games this spring under first-year head coach Asa Grunenwald. Ryan Miller was named All-League and Reilly MacDonald was named All-Academic.
