Southampton Village Police are reminding residents and visitors to the area that the Hamptons Marathon will mean road closures and traffic disruptions throughout the village this coming Saturday morning, September 28.
All three of the runs — the full marathon, half marathon and 5k — will start and end at the Southampton Intermediate School on Leland Lane, which will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Other roads along the route will be open to traffic, but police will be restricting traffic at times when large crowds of runners are passing through an area, like along Wickapogue Road, Downs Path and Gin Lane.
The 26.2 mile full marathon snakes through the entire village, first looping east along Wickapogue and then out Gin Lane and Meadow Lane to the boundary of Shinnecock East County Park, then back into the village and north through the estate section on Captains Neck Lane, Halsey Neck Lane, Ox Pasture Road and First Neck Lane.
Police warned residents and motorists of those areas to be aware of potential travel delays and disruptions during the event.
