The Hamptons Observatory has virtual lectures planned in October and November.
The October 15 lecture will be by Dr. Jason Williams, a project scientist for NASA’s Cold Atom Lab on the International Space Station. Williams will discuss the research, why the ISS is the perfect location for the lab, the importance of the research to quantum science and how it may unlock the observation of new quantum phenomena. On November 12, Dr. Madhulika “Lika” Guhathakurta, NASA’s senior advisor for new initiatives, will discuss “Living With a Star: Science That Matters to People.” Guhathakurta will talk about heliophysics (aka space weather) and how NASA’s Living With a Star program targets specific aspects of the sun-earth system that affect life and society.
Both lectures start at 7 p.m. and a reservation that will get a Zoom link is needed by going to hamptonsobservatory.org.
