Harold K. Platt, formerly of Southampton, died peacefully at his home in Naples, Florida on December 20. He was 80.

He was born on November 7, 1942, one of seven children born to William B. Platt Jr. and Edith G. Platt.

He attended Mercy High School in Riverhead and then Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C.. Following graduation he served in the Military Police of the U.S. Army. Upon discharge he attended Fordham Law School, where he served as Articles Editor of the prestigious Fordham Law review.

Upon graduating from Law School he practiced law in Southampton, and married Joan Pritchard Platt who passed away in 2008 after 38 years of marriage. He remarried in 2021.

He is survived by his wife Kathy Russell Platt; a son and his wife, Timothy and Mina Platt, a granddaughter Laura, and a grandson Timothy, all of Charleston, South Carolina; sisters Emalie Platt Feerick and Elinor Platt Hoar; and brothers Jonathan and Richard. He was predeceased by sister Meredith and brother William.

A recipient of many personal and professional accolades, he will be best remembered as a kind and loving brother, father and grandfather of the highest moral character whose presence brought a smile to all that knew him.

Cremation was private and his ashes will be interred in Sacred Hearts Cemetery at a time to be determined in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in accordance with Harold’s wishes to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated by the family.
