We want to extend our profound thanks to the many first responders who showed up to extinguish a fire at our house in the village on Tuesday night. We were, fortunately, out of town that night and spared the trauma of having to escape the blaze.
Although the house suffered extensive damage and is currently uninhabitable, the fact that it is still standing and can be rebuilt is due to the prompt response and valiant efforts of local fire departments (Southampton, North Sea, Hampton Bays and Bridgehampton). EMTs and police were there as well and, although no one was home, we appreciate their efforts to ensure than any occupants of the house were safe.
We are so lucky to live in a community where volunteers and professionals alike give their service so selflessly and put themselves in harm’s way to save others.
We cannot express enough our heartfelt thanks to all those involved, and to the kind neighbors who showed up offering support in the ensuing days.
