Helen J. Konopka of Bridgehampton died on July 4, 2017. She was 94. She was born and grew up on the Graboski family farm on Mitchell Lane in Bridgehampton, the fourth of eight children. In 1946, she was married to Chester J. Konopka, residing in Bridgehampton where she lived for 80 years. For the past 13 years, she has been a resident of the Life Care Center of Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, Georgia, near her daughter, Lorraine Mitchell.

Devoted to her family, she was a great cook and loved preparing traditional homemade Polish dishes including ribs and cabbage, dumplings, potato platski, tomato soup, borscht, stew, homemade noodles, rice pudding and cakes. She never forgot a birthday or holiday and was a loving and thoughtful wife, mother and aunt, survivors said. A member of Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton, she was cheerful, kind and giving, they added.

In February 2013, family and friends all gathered at the Mitchell home in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, to join her in happy celebration of her 90th birthday.

She was predeceased by her husband, Chester J. Konopka; her parents, Stanley and Pauline Graboski of Bridgehampton; two sisters, Sophie Zebrowski of Southampton and Edith Krupski of Mattituck; and four brothers, Vincent Graboski of East Hampton, Stanley F. Graboski Jr. and Edmond T. Graboski of Bridgehampton, and John C. Graboski of Lindenhurst. She is survived by a daughter, Lorraine K. Mitchell and husband Doyle S. Mitchell of Peachtree Corners; and a brother, Benny A. Graboski and wife Nancy S. Graboski of Bridgehampton; along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation took place at the O’Connell-Rothwell Funeral Home in Southampton on July 9. A funeral Mass took place on Monday, July 10, at Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton, followed by interment at Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Southampton.
