Helen Kelly West died on December 28, 2019, at her home in Bostic, North Carolina. She was 72.
The daughter of the late John J. Kelly and Helen Gilmartin Kelly, she was born and raised in Southampton Village, attended Sacred Hearts School, Mercy High School, and Barry College. She married Rick TenBroeck and joined him in his business, Rick’s Records, formerly known as Roysons on Jobs Lane. They later moved to Florida and then to Bostic.
Ms. West was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forest City. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 31 years of service.
An avid golfer, she was the Southampton Golf Club women’s club champion in 1969, an honor she shared with her mother, Helen, club champion in 1965.
The Kellys came together biennially from across the country for family vacations including among them, childhood friend, Mary Field-McNally Harding. She was devoted to her family and invited her mother to live with her until her death in 2006.
She was predeceased by her husband, Denmon “Pro” West.
She is survived by her sons, Chuck TenBroeck of Memphis, Gregg TenBroeck and wife Laura of Ellenboro; her daughter, Sarah TenBroeck of Forest City; brother John T. Kelly (Carol) of California; sister Maureen Wilson of Ohio; and her five grandchildren, Jessica TenBroeck Carroll, Jay TenBroeck, Dylan TenBroeck, Patrick TenBroeck, and Addison TenBroeck, and cherished nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, January 16, at noon at the Basilica Church of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton.
