The Reverend Nancy Remkus, the pastor of the First Presbyterian (Old Whalers’) Church of Sag Harbor, is cautioning members of the congregation and others that a fraudulent email impersonating her account has been sent to members of the congregation. She said the fake email uses her name and that of the church, but is not her official account. She urged anyone receiving such an email to not reply to it, click on any links, or send any money. “Our church will never solicit funds or ask for personal information through unofficial email addresses,” she wrote in an email.
