I want to let East Quogue residents know why the lights on the large tree at the Hamlet Green and the six trees surrounding the circular field were on, on December 1.
The East Quogue Beautification Committee, which usually has its Tree Lighting Ceremony on the first Saturday of December, decided, in these trying times, to bring the holiday spirit to the residents of East Quogue and those who pass through our wonderful hamlet a few days early. The lights will continue to come on each day at 4:30 p.m. and go off at 1 a.m.
We want to wish everyone a belated Happy Hanukkah, a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. We also want to wish everyone good health in the coming year. Please stay safe, and we look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, December 4, 2021, to once again celebrate our annual Tree Lighting on the East Quogue Hamlet Green.
Happy holidays!

White smoke began to billow as bells started ringing at 6:07 p.m. on May 8, signifying the start of the next pontificate. While this was not the first conclave during my lifetime, it was the first since I became a...
I enjoyed Jenny Noble’s article “Composting for Dummies” [Arts & Living, April 17]. She taught me about brown and green, which I have started to incorporate into my compost. Three compost methods that I have been using for many years...
The Express News Group editorial board never misses an opportunity to take a swing at President Donald Trump, but choosing to do so during Memorial Day, a day set aside to honor those who served and those who passed away,...
In 2022, I voted for the present Southampton Village mayor, Bill Manger. Like many of you, I was duped. As Abraham Lincoln said, “… You can fool some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the...
A friend just bought my attention to the letter by Ed Surgan, who states that I want to raise your (who is your?) taxes [“It’s Politics,” Letters, May 22]. I said nothing of the sort. I suggested that we need...
