Faculty, administrators, staff and current students at Suffolk County Community College will welcome new and prospective students to an open house on Sunday, November 3, from noon to 2 p.m. Open house will take place at all three of the college’s campuses, including Riverhead, as well as its Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center in Riverhead. The annual Ride & Wine event to benefit i-tri is set for Saturday, October 5. The ride will start at 10:30 a.m. at Scoville Hall in Amagansett with two routes planned: 34 miles and 13 miles. Both will end at Scoville with a lunch and wine tasting afterward. The Amagansett start and finish are a change from the past events, which were held in Bridgehampton. The 34-mile ride will travel to the Montauk Lighthouse and back, and the 13-mile route will go through Amagansett’s Promised Land to Gardiners Bay and back. ARF’s annual Stroll to the Sea Dog Walk will take place on Sunday, October 6. The walk to Main Beach and back, about two-miles, will leave the Mulford Farm, 10 James Lane, East Hampton at 10 a.m. Gates open at 9 a.m. Besides the walk, there will be contests, prizes, food and live music by Sandy Rapp. Those who cannot make the walk are invited to walk on their own but register as a “virtual walker.” Registration starts at $40. The Hamptons Observatory has virtual lectures planned in October and November. The October 15 lecture will be by Dr. Jason Williams, a project scientist for NASA’s Cold Atom Lab on the International Space Station.
