Impressions, Post July 4

Pop! Crackle! Whiz!

Mini fireworks still celebrating

Independence Day

Blood orange full moon rises

slowly against clear sapphire sky —

Queen of the night

Jade colored inlet — still as

glass — two egrets poised to

take flight —

Marsh grasses — still as

trained soldiers —

Everything still, sultry, hot

Who can dwell on world events, when

You see baby swans follow

their parents to the powder blue bay.

One is grateful to be alive.
