I am in a panic that I have heard from friends that there have been several cars stolen on South Main Street and on Huntting Street and on Wickapogue, and break-ins and home invasions on other streets near me, and yet I have not been contacted by the police.
Why is it, with all of the millions that we spend in tax dollars, that officers do not go door to door on the blocks or streets where these crimes are happening to warn us as to what is going on?
In all of the years that I have lived in the village, I have never seen a police officer on foot or on bike patrol in front of my house, and I only see police cars speeding by.
As a senior, I am beginning to feel unsafe in my home, and I am seriously considering leaving for good as soon as possible.

The opinions of the Southampton Town Board candidates on the issue of gas blowers are against the will of the majority who worked so hard against entrenched interests to restrict their use. The noise of gas blowers reach 85 decibels...
Four years ago, Cyndi McNamara ran for a seat on the Southampton Town Board. I did not support her then. Not just because she supported Discovery Land, but because I did not believe she had the necessary experience to sit...

A shout out to Mark Bernardo for bringing the issue of cybersecurity to the fore in his campaign for Southampton Town clerk. Although some interpreted his concern as misguided, in the wrong lane, and something for the IT department to...
In her October 23 Letter to the Editor, “Key Facts,” Rhonda Liss claims that I am self-righteous and hypocritical for signing a “deceptive” designating petition for registered Working Families Party candidates. Early voting has started, so I’ll attempt to rebut...

The Democratic slate of local candidates looks pretty compelling this year. Ann Welker has done a host of good things for us in the Suffolk County Legislature, many aimed at preserving our precious environment. I don’t think we could have...
Voters have an important decision to make in local elections this year in the Town of Southampton. As the co-chair of the Suffolk County Working Families Party, I am proud to have several excellent candidates on our ballot line, including...
Professional. Competent. Cross-endorsed. Bipartisan. Spectacular. Knowledgeable. Outstanding. Efficient. Integrity. Thoughtful. Throughout this election cycle, these words have been expressed by many Southampton Town voters describing Sundy Schermeyer, current Southampton Town clerk. We completely agree. As lifelong registered Democrats and former...
