Ira S. Marcus of Westhampton Beach died August 26. He was 94.
Born in New York City, survivors said he was a legend in the ladies apparel industry and is credited with the success of the Booth Bay and John Meyer labels among others. He excelled as a fisherman and dockmaster of the Westhampton Beach Marina.
Mr. Marcus was a longtime member of the Westhampton Beach Fire Department. He attended DeWilt Clinton High School and Ohio University. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was predeceased by his wife, Regina Gay; a son, Allen David Marcus; a sister, Irene Salzberg; and a brother, Jerry Marcus. He is survived by a daughter, Harriet Davidson.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach. Services are private.
