Irene R. Stachecki, Formerly Of Water Mill, Dies January 21

Irene R. Stachecki, formerly of Water Mill, died on January 21. She was 90.

Ms. Stachecki was raised in Garden City Park where she met her future husband, Walter Stachecki, upon his return from military service. They married in 1948 and moved to Mr. Stachecki’s hometown of Southampton. They ultimately settled in Water Mill.

Ms. Stachecki assisted her husband in his potato-packing business and subsequently their family vegetable farm. She was an active mother, serving as a Brownie troops leader, a 4-H leader a she was involved in the Home Extension Service.

Survivors said nothing gave her more happiness than spending time with her family. Recently, she had her entire family present at her 90th birthday. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.

She spent the last years of her life living in Vermont with her daughter and son-in-law.

Predeceased by her husband, Walter B. Stachecki, she is survived by her children, Chris Johannesen of New Jersey, Cindy Andrews and husband Doug of Vermont, Caren Maynard and partner Jeff Marsh of New Hampshire, and Walter and wife Lori of Sag Harbor; grandchildren Katie Magri, Craig and Erin Johannesen, Chad and Amanda Andrews, Christopher Andrews, Brina Stachecki and Devan Stachecki; and great-grandchildren, Chas Magri and Owen, Harper and Ellie Johannesen. She is also survived by a sister, Barbara Schaefering.
