Irene Sacher of Southampton died on April 2 at the Westhampton Care Center. She was 88.
Born in New Rochelle, Ms. Sacher grew up in Yonkers and spent most of her summers and weekends in Southampton during her youth.
While growing up in Yonkers, she met William Sacher at Fairfield Beach in Connecticut and the two were married in 1942. She worked as a real estate agent in New Rochelle and Manhattan until 1968, when a debilitating stroke ended her career. She moved permanently to North Sea in 1972.
She is survived by a son, William H. Sacher of Southampton; a brother, Cliff Johnson of North Sea; and two grandsons, William H. Sacher Jr. of Southampton and Jeremy Woodhouse of West Carthage.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Johanna Woodhouse; two brothers; and a sister.
A graveside service will be held on ?Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m. at Southampton Cemetery; the Reverend Jeff Madley will officiate. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
