Irving Reese Greene
Irving Reese Greene of Bridgehampton died at Southampton Hospital on Friday, January 20. He was 80.
Born March 19, 1931, he was one of 12 children born to Robert and Frances Greene. After graduating from Bridgehampton High School in 1950, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1952 to 1954.
He worked for DePetris Food Market, was a Villa Maria caretaker, worked at Kominski Garage and Corrigan’s Gas Station.
He enjoyed bowling and set up pins for various teams. He enjoyed landscaping and was the best hedge cutter on the East End, family said.
He is survived by siblings, Frank Greene and his wife Catherine of Florida, William Greene of Riverhead, Nellie Greene of Westhampton, Blanche Greene and Mary Greene of Bridgehampton; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation took place Friday, January 27, at the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral service was held at the funeral home on Friday; the Reverend Peter Sulyok of Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church officiated. Interment with military honors followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
