It Deserves Coverage
I was surprised and disappointed at the lack of any coverage by The Press of a rally by Bridgehampton residents on Saturday, October 12, against the proposed development of a large Equinox gym facility across from the mall on Route 27.
This kind of big-box development by national chains with no connection or concern for the quality of life here in Bridgehampton, and on the East End in general, is an ongoing critical issue that deserves your diligent attention.
I was one of those at the rally, and it was clear from questions coming from people in cars passing by that they knew nothing about the proposed development and the threat it is to Bridgehampton. Coverage by your paper is crucial for that information to reach the wider Southampton community. It is part of your responsibility as a trusted local news source to be in contact with grassroots groups of concerned local residents who are trying to protect our town, villages and hamlets from the corrosive effects of inappropriate development.

I thank Barbara Ring for aptly proving my point. In response to my letter [“An Alliance,” Letters, April 11], which decried the state of civic public discourse in Hampton Bays as being overtaken by misinformation, fear-mongering and conspiracy peddling, Ring...
