June Auslander Harrison
June Auslander Harrison of Southampton died Friday, February 25, surrounded by her family, following a brief battle with cancer. She was 71.
Born in New York City on May 4, 1939, to Evelyn and George Auslander, she graduated from the Emma Willard School and from Pine Manor Junior College, and the School of Interior Design in New York City. She was a member of the board of trustees for the Kips Bay Boys Club, the New York Botanical Gardens, and the Central Park Conservancy. She was a longtime member of Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, a founding member of Doubles International Club and a member of the Water Mill Bridge Club.
She will be remembered by all who knew her as an enthusiastic golfer, an avid bridge player, a tireless volunteer and a consummate collector. Most importantly she was a loyal, fun loving friend with a keen sense of humor, strong opinions and a generous heart, survivors said.
June was predeceased two husbands, Alfred “Tom” Turner Wells Jr. and Ridgely W. Harrison Jr. She is survived by her step-children, Ridgely W. Harrison III and his wife Lynn of New Jersey, James F. Harrison and his wife Barbara of New Jersey and New Russia, NY, and Michael T. Harrison and his wife Patty of Jay, NY; eight step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Southampton. A celebration of her life will be held in Southampton after Memorial Day. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton.
