Jane Marie Hansen, a resident of Noyac for 45 years, died at her home on August 22 after a long illness. She was 81.

Born January 3, 1927, in New York City, she was the daughter of Marion (née Fitzpatrick) and Leo Grant.

After attending St. Agnes High School in Whitestone, New York, she briefly attended Queens College before entering the business world.

In 1947, she married George G. Hansen following his discharge from the U.S. Army Air Force. The couple moved to Uniondale and summered at Hilltop Acres in Sag Harbor before subsequently moving to Noyac. A member of St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, she was also was a member of the Noyac Civic Council and of United Cerebral Palsy of New York.

After raising her children, Mrs. Hansen reentered the work force and pursued a career in real estate. Over the course of her career, she was associated with Harold F. Robertson Realty and Harbor Cove Realty. In her retirement, she continued to enjoy her expanding family, and the beaches and beautiful surroundings of the East End.

She and her husband had the opportunity to travel extensively, including visits to Ireland and Norway.

In addition to her husband, George of Sag Harbor, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Susan and Thomas Morrissey of Sag Harbor, and Kathleen and Michael Ruotolo of West Islip; and four sons and their wives, Paul and Catherine Hansen of Sag Harbor, Robert and Cindy Hansen of Yorktown Heights, New York, John and Sharon Hansen of Virginia, and Thomas and Wendy Hansen of Connecticut.

She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and William Leahy of Sag Harbor and Florida; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Grace Birnstiel; and many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and devoted caretakers.

A prayer service was held on August 24 at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. Funeral services were held on August 25 at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor; interment followed in the church cemetery.
