Jane McNamara Sleight of Melbourne Beach, Florida, and Sag Harbor died at her Florida home on February 11. She was 80.
Born in Southampton on December 10, 1935, she was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Brennan McNamara. She grew up on the family farm in Bridgehampton, which is where she met William Sleight, who would become her husband. They started a family and resided in Holmdel, New Jersey, before moving to Coral Springs, Florida in the early 1980s. Eventually they retired to Sag Harbor and Melbourne Beach and enjoyed fishing, traveling and entertaining family and friends.
Ms. Sleight is survived by a sister, Anne McNamara Moonis of Valley Stream and Florida; three sons, William Dering Sleight of Florida, John Rysam Sleight of Florida and James Brinley Sleight of East Quogue and Florida; and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William Sleight; a daughter, Betty Jane Janosko; two brothers, John McNamara and Bill McNamara; and sisters Mary McNamara Jablonski and Betty McNamara King of Water Mill.
A funeral will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Melbourne Beach, Florida, on March 12 at 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Sag Harbor this summer.
