Jesse Jordi Domenech, 37, died at his home in Queens on February 26. He was 37.

He was born on September 4, 1985, in Manhasset, and raised in Bayside, and later in Southampton. He attended Southampton Elementary and Middle School. He graduated from St. Anthony’s High School. He continued his education at Syracuse University.

He had a passion for the fine arts, his family said. He was an avid musician, who wrote heartfelt poetry and lyrics. He had an eclectic taste for music, often discovering new and innovative bands to promote. He was excited to share his vast knowledge of musicians’ recordings and their history.

As a young boy, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing basketball, swimming at Flying Point, sailing, and golfing,

He loved his books, his family said, noting that he would be so excited when he shared a special book with those he loved.

At 8 years old, he illustrated a book of poetry, “The Sun is On,” by Lindamichelle Baron, a poet laureate.

Domenech had a generous spirit, according to his family.

He worked with disadvantaged children, helping them to gain admission to special programs and specialized schools. He felt compelled to help the homeless, the needy, would selflessly give of his time, effort and thought nothing of giving beyond his means.

Domenech was driven by kindness and a passion for life, his family said, noting that he touched many lives with his spirit of generosity and his compassion.

He is deeply missed by his family, friends and all those he touched with his gentle spirit, they said.

He is survived by his parents Celia and Jorge Domenech; sister Francesca Domenech Wuttke; nephews Max, Charlie and Simon; his aunt Ellen; cousins Corine and Roger; and extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 11 a.m., at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary at 168 Hill Street in Southampton.

Three Problems

The days since the September 10 murder of Charlie Kirk, an influencer and activist on the right, at a Utah college campus have brought an avalanche of reactions. Observers on both sides have tried to use the event to score political points, which is simply ghoulish. Political violence is an American reality, but it can never be an American principle — it is indefensible. Period, full-stop. Among the reactions, a few have been standard, but there are three points that deserve special consideration as we try to find a path forward after the death of the 31-year-old father of two, ... by Editorial Board
