Jessica A. Poulson Schmitt, formerly of Hampton Bays, died on August 5, 2024. She was 76.

She graduated from Hampton Bays High School. After college, she went into the business world and began her career in banking. She worked her way up at Nat West and eventually was transferred to the Netherlands, excelling professionally in international currency trading at ABN/AMRO. She traveled to Thailand and Hong Kong frequently on business for the bank.

Upon her early retirement, she and her husband, Jon, settled in Sarasota, Florida. They traveled extensively together and enjoyed skiing as well as sailing.

She will be greatly missed by the family and friends she enjoyed so much, and to whom she brought so much love and enjoyment, her family said.

She is survived by her husband Jon; her two step-children, Lauren (Chris) and Eric (Amber); six grandchildren; her sister Judy and brother Warren (Christy); a niece and a nephew; two step-nephews; and many cousins. She was predeceased by her mother Anna and her father Omer; as well as both of her brothers-in-law, Robert and Tom.

A service of internment will be held on Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens’ Research Hospital (stjude.org).
