Joan Marie McCabe Sawyer of Westhampton died February 17, 2017, in Stuart, Florida, with her husband and daughter by her side. She was 70.
Mrs. Sawyer was born November 5, 1946, in Brooklyn to John McCabe and Marie Quinn. She was a previous employee of Westhampton True Value Hardware for nearly 25 years. Along with her husband, Bill, she was the owner and operator of the Beaver Dam Creek House Bed & Breakfast in Westhampton for more than 20 years. The Sawyers were hosts to hundreds of guests in their home over the course of the last two decades. She was an excellent ambassador to all who came to the greater Westhampton community, survivors said.
Mrs. Sawyer is survived by her husband of 30 years, William “Bill” Franklin Sawyer of Westhampton and Florida; a daughter, Jeanne Dooley of Westhampton; a stepson, Travis Sawyer of South Carolina; two sisters, Kate Blair of South Carolina and Karen Cooke of Deer Park; and former husband, Jeff Dooley of Amityville.
A celebration of life party will be held on Saturday, June 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Beaver Dam Creek House Bed & Breakfast, 5 Pleasant Avenue in Westhampton. All are welcome to attend.
