Joel D. McKenzie died on October 7 at East End Hospice after a brief illness. He was 60.

He was born on February 10, 1960 in Nassau, The Bahamas, and was the son of Roy and Colett McKenzie.

Mr. McKenzie left the Bahamas as a teenager to work for the Ford family and later became the house manager for Patty and George Kraus in Southampton.

He was a self-starter and a pleaser who would do anything for anyone, according to his family. Mr. McKenzie was loved by so many including his family, the Southampton community, vendors, employers and members of the Kraus family, his family said.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers, nephews and nieces in the Bahamas and Florida.

A celebration of his life will take place in Southampton next summer.
