John Daniel Dunn of Hampton Bays died on December 23. He was 88.
Dunn and his wife Patricia Dunn celebrated their 60th anniversary on November 25. He was born in Astoria, Queens. They moved from Woodside (formerly of Jackson Heights) to Hampton Bays in 1973. Dunn worked at Kollsman Instrument Corp. from 1956-1976 and served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. He was stationed in Bussac, France. From 1976 until his retirement, he worked for Local 153 as a business representative.
He is survived by his wife Patricia (Gillespie); his sons John ( pre-deceased Laura), Joseph (Ellen), Michael (Katherin) and Patrick; his grandchildren Kaitlyn, Alexander, Stephen, Taylor, Lindsay and Carly; his sister-in-law Dorothy (Gillespie); and many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Alice and his siblings, Alice (Dunn) Petrow, Robert, Dorothy (Dunn) Schauss, Thomas, Alfred, Joseph, Patricia (Dunn) Short and Francis.
Visiting hours were held on December 29 at the R. J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on December 30 at St. Rosalie’s Church in Hampton Bays. A burial in Calverton National Cemetery followed the mass.
