John F. Van Deventer Jr. of South‑ ampton died on June 27. He was 57.
Born in Greenwich, Connecticut, he graduated from Greenwich Country Day School, The Gunnery in Washington, Connecticut, and Southampton College. He worked as a sales associate with Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate in Quogue and served for many years as a board member and treasurer of the Peconic Land Trust. He also was a member and past treasurer of the Southampton Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife Roseann “Sann” Van Deventer of Southampton, and a son John “Jack” F. Van Deventer III, who attends the Ross School in East Hampton. He is also survived by a sister, Tina Maillefert of Maryland. He was predeceased by his parents Ellenor and John F. Van Deventer, who were residents of Washington, Connecticut, and Southampton.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 13, at 3 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Dune Church in Southampton. Funeral services are under the direction of the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton.
