John J. Dalessandro II of New York City and Southampton died on September 14 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was 71.
A graduate of the Eastern Military Academy in Huntington and Villanova University in 1959, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He worked at McDonnell and Co. before founding the John J. Dalessandro Co., a floor brokerage firm and member of the New York Stock Exchange for more than 35 years.
The president of the Stock Exchange Luncheon Club for three consecutive terms, he was most recently a trustee of the Allianz Global Investors Sponsored Closed End Funds.
Mr. Dalessandro was an avid vintage car enthusiast and participated in road rallies in Bridgehampton and Italy, racing in the Mille Miglia in 2006 and 2007. He was a member of the Bathing Corporation of Southampton, the Meadow Club of Southampton, Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, and the Sailfish Club of Palm Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Frances Wynne Callahan and a nephew, Alfred J. Callahan III.
The family will receive friends today, Thursday, September 18, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday, September 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 20, at 9 a.m. at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in Southampton.
