Dr. John M. Marino of Southampton died on July 9 at Southampton Hospital. He was 75.
Born in Brooklyn to Vincent J. Marino and Grace (née Zollo) Marino, he received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University in 1955 and earned his medical degree in 1959 at New York Medical School. His internship, from 1959 to 1960, was at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
He became board certified in surgery on April 12, 1965, and was an attending surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital until his retirement in 1998.
He is survived by a daughter, Christa and husband Bill Lawrence; a son, John M. Marino Jr.; a sister, Louise Pilone; a nephew, Eddie Pilone; a niece, Grace Pilone; and three grandchildren, Charlotte, William, and Henry Lawrence. He was predeceased by a daughter, Nicole Marino, and a sister, Maria Reisiger.
A parish prayer service was conducted by Reverend Monsignor William Gill on July 14 at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral mass, also officiated by the Reverend Monsignor Gill, was held on July 15 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in Southampton.
