John M. Ring of Sag Harbor died on February 2 at his home. He was 87.
Born March 16, 1922, in Brooklyn, he was the son of Alphonse G. Ring and Marie (née Mallon) Ring. A graduate of St. Augustine High School in Brooklyn and Fordham University in New York City, he was a former vice president of Williamsburgh Savings Bank in Brooklyn.
A member of the Knights of Columbus, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (née Fearon) Ring of Sag Harbor; two sons and their wives, Michael and Katherine of California and Gerard and Suzanne of New Jersey; and four daughters, Noel Ring of Sag Harbor, Elizabeth Ring and her husband Erik Petersen of Georgia, Marie and her husband Craig Levins of East Northport and Jane and her husband David Coppola of Scotia. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Ring of Hempstead; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by a brother, Tim Ring.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 4, at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor, with a Knights of Columbus service scheduled at the funeral home the same day. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 5, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
