John Robert Aery passed away peacefully at Regional In-House Hospice, Danbury, Ct., Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 6:45am with his wife, Donna, by his side.

John was born in Southamp-ton, NY, to Arthur Vincent & Emma Regina Aery.

After completing a four year college degree at The University of New Mexico, John began his very successful career in the Title Insurance business. Through his hard work & dedication he eventually became the North East District Manager in White Plains, NY.

On March 3, 1978, John married Donna Lee Gus-tin, at Saint Pauls On-The-Hill Episcopal Church in Ossining, NY., during a snow storm.

Through John’s love of skiing they honeymooned in Steamboat Springs, Colorado enjoying the West-ern skiing experience.

In addition to being an avid skier, John loved to play golf. He continued his membership in the Southampton Golf Club after moving to Westches-ter County.

John is survived by his wife, Donna, their three grown adult children; Alison ( Brian), Jessica & Robert in addition to two grandchildren, Benjamin & Alexander, along with his siblings Paul (Sandra), Christopher (Carol), Margaret (John) and sister-in-law, Melissa, and many nieces & nephews. Also, an adoring Brother & Sister-in-Law; Eric Gustin (Catherine) and Joy Eade.

John is predeceased by his Mother & Father and brothers Peter & James. In addition, his Mother & Father-in-Law. Lorraine & Robert Gustin and Brother In-Law,Karl Gustin.

A “Celebration of Life for John” will be held at his home in Yorktown Heights, NY, on SATURDAY, JULY 19, 2025.

Havens Beach Cleanup Set for August 11

The Peconic Estuary Partnership and Friends of Havens Beach are inviting community members to take part in a beach cleanup on Monday, August 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., immediately following the Sag Harbor Fire Department’s annual carnival. The cleanup will take place at Havens Beach and is open to all ages. Gloves and trash pickers will be provided to volunteers. Diverting Scraps

Early this year, the Town of Southampton began a food scrap composting pilot program at the Hampton Bays transfer station. By simply locating a half dozen garbage bins for residents to separately dispose of their food scraps, an alternative was presented to throwing them away with the rest of household trash.
