John H. Scheetz
John H. Scheetz of Ormond by the Sea, Florida, formerly of Westhampton Beach, died at his home on September 28 with his wife by his side. He was 82.
Mr. Scheetz was born to Charles and Dorothy Scheetz in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, on August 15, 1931. He graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Scheetz was the owner and publisher of The Long Island News for many years and also the owner of Price Guides, a tourist publication company on eastern Long Island. He retired from the Suffolk County Water Authority as executive secretary. He was president of the Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce from 1991 to 1993.
Throughout his life, Mr. Scheetz enjoyed collecting antiques, especially trains and banks. He also loved animals, especially his faithful companions, Chin-Chin and Moxie.
Mr. Scheetz is survived by his wife of 17 years, Maggie; a daughter, MaryBeth Rible and her husband Alan; a stepdaughter, Regina Stagliano and her husband David; two sons, John B. and Brian Scheetz; a sister, Denise Bamonte and her husband Luigi; three grandsons, Jack Rible, Matthew John Stagliano and Thomas Scheetz; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service was held on October 20 at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church, 106 Amsden Road, Ormond Beach, Florida 32176-4712.
