John W. Grayhurst Of Westhampton Beach Dies June 22

John W. Grayhurst of Westhampton Beach died on June 22 at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Quiogue. He was 61.

Mr. Grayhurst was born in New York City on May 19, 1959. He attended St. Ignatius Loyola School.

In 1968, the family moved to Westhampton Beach. Mr. Grayhurst graduated from all three Westhampton Beach schools and went on to study at the New York Institute of Technology.

Mr. Grayhurst returned to New York City to work 12 years in advertising. In 1991, he decided to move back to Westhampton Beach to start a small business, East End Flags and Flagpoles.

He loved sailing his sailfish on Moriches Bay and was a member of Aspatuck Yacht Club. He enjoyed playing tennis a various tennis clubs.

He was often seen in the village driving his father’s 1936 Ford Phaeton.

He is survived by his mother Dottie, and leaves behind two beloved cats, Zuzu and Taffy.

SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE — A New Jersey man was charged with assault following a road rage incident on June 30 following a motor vehicle accident on Hill Street. Police arrived at the scene and determined that Kevin E. Guevara-Martinez, 26, of New Jersey was fighting with a 43-year-old Hampton Bays man. Both men were arrested. Guevara-Martinez was charged with assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor. The Hampton Bays man had to be taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries and was charged there with harassment in the second degree, a violation.
