John Wesley McGauvran of Southampton died peacefully on March 4. He was 93.

He was the husband of the late Kathleen Mae McGauvran. They were both born in Queens.

He served his country honorably as a United States Marine and performed his duties professionally as an engineer with the New York Telephone Company. He served as deacon faithfully for decades at St. Rose of Lima Church in Massapequa Park, Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Port Jefferson, and Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in Southampton.

He is survived by his children, John, Michael, Kathleen, Brian, Kevin, Andew, Terence, Megan, and James; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and his children’s spouses, Tammi, Shiela, Ralph, Lisa, Doreen, Michele, and Frank.

He and his wife, Kathleen leave a legacy of love, commitment to family, service to the Roman Catholic Church and humanity, his family said. He will be remembered for decades by those he leaves behind. He and his wife Kathleen will rest together for eternity.

His life was celebrated at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton, and he was interred at St. Charles Cemetery with full Marine military honors, as well as words spoken by another devoted deacon.
