Jonathan 'Pudgie' Van Houten Dies At 54

Jonathan “Pudgie” Van Houten

Jonathan “Pudgie” Van Houten of Calverton died on Thursday, November 17. He was 54.

Born August 8, 1957, in Riverhead to Robert F. Van Houten and Elizabeth Kearns, he owned his own trucking business and enjoyed auto racing.

Mr. Van Houten is survived by his mother, Elizabeth; daughters, Marissa and Alexia; siblings, Robert of Australia, Michael of Jamesport, Elizabeth Pawluczyk of Cutchogue, Andrew LeGrasse of Riverhead, Nancy McKenna of Manorville and Gregory of Calverton.

Visitation took place on Saturday and Sunday, November 19 and 20, at the McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral Mass took place Monday, November 21, at St. John’s Church also in Riverhead. Interment followed at St. John’s cemetery.

Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of December 12

William Campos Lopez, 26, of Speonk was arrested on December 8, at 3:40 a.m., by Quogue Village Police charged him with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. He was pulled over after being observed speeding and failing to maintain his lane on Montauk Highway, police said.
