The seventh annual Jordan’s Run 5K returns to Sag Harbor this Sunday, July 30, with the rain or shine gun expected to go off at 8:30 a.m.

Online registration, which is $30, is still open at elitefeats.com where more information on the race, including its virtual component, can also be found. There will be day-of registration, which sees a slight increase to $35, that opens at 7 a.m. with the opening ceremony expected to start at 8 a.m.

Proceeds from the race go to In Jordan’s Honor, a foundation in honor of Haerter, the race’s namesake, which also gives out a scholarship to a Pierson High School senior who chooses to serve the country either through law enforcement, as Haerter aspired to do, or the military.

Jordan’s Run is part of the Suffolk County Veterans’ Run Series and one of many across Long Island. Starting and ending at Pierson High School, the course was chosen to pass by important places in Haerter’s life, including his school, the village, the Lance Cpl. Jordan Haerter Veterans’ Memorial Bridge and the cemetery where he’s buried.

Amenities of the race will include T-shirts, a photo booth, music and “mess hall” which will include watermelon, bagels and water. The course is known for its scenic water view through historic Sag Harbor Village and Tom Gillin will provide professional race announcing at the finish line. The top male and female finishers will earn medals, as will the top finishers in each age group.

Parking is limited at both Pierson High School, Sag Harbor Elementary and nearby Mashashimuet Park. Parking is allowed down the neighboring side streets, but fills up fast and those who choose to do so are asked not to block driveways.

Any questions can be emailed to jordansrun5k@gmail.com, or call 631-725-1788.
